VP Osinbajo Steps into the Hot Seat As President Buhari Goes on Medical Vacation

President Muhammadu Buhari will begin a 10-day vacation to the United Kingdom on Monday as confirmed by the Special adviser to the president on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina, on Sunday.

It has been rumoured barely three days ago that the president was seriously ill but the presidency, however, maintained that Buhari was hale and hearty.

With this, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo would step in as the Acting President within the period of the President’s absence.

The statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London on Monday June 6th to rest.
“During the holiday, he will see an E.N.T. specialist for a persistent ear infection. The President was examined by his Personal Physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated.

“Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution.”

MASSOB joins Forces With Avengers Says Violence is the Only Language for Liberation

In a statement signed by the national leader of MASSOB, Comrade Uchenna Madu, he stated that MASSOB was glad that the Avengers had been consistent in the struggle for the liberation of Biafra.

“The consistency, selflessness and pragmatism of these Biafra warriors gladdens our hearts. It shows and proves the positiveness and acceptability of Biafra by our brethren across the Niger. It also rubbished the earlier diversionary, cowardice, stupid and negative comments / statements and position of some leaders of Ethnic nationalities of the South South who are brainwashed by Hausa Fulani Yoruba oligarchies against Biafra”, he declared.

Madu further stated that “the activities of the current Niger Delta Warriors is a natural confirmation that Biafra stretches towards the gulf of Guinea. The natural inhabitants and indigenous people of these lands are Biafrans by birth but Nigeria by citizens.

“MASSOB has made it open that we want Biafra though we choose non violence approach. We shall also support every genuine, legitimate methodology and approach chosen by any group towards Biafran self determination.

“Because of our non violence approach, the Nigerian security forces have killed thousands of MASSOB members and other groups members since 1999 when the current struggle started.”

“Nigeria and her likes understand the only language of violence. Today, Buhari’s military soldiers are being disgraced, economic power block is being dismantled, diplomatic relations being shattered, his Government in disarray even himself is confused because of the activities of Biafran agitators in the Eastern region.

“Our comrades from Niger Delta who are more United and focused than groups from Igbo based hinterland should not relent as the knees of our oppressors shall bow soon. They will beg Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others”.

RE: PRESIDENT BUHARI'S DISAPPEARING ACTS, OGONI LAND CLEAN UP AND THE LAST STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK

With much respect and great enthusiasm, after perusing through your writeup sir, i deem it fit to make some clarifications and much needed additions if need be. Although, i read many of your thoughts and opinions on national issues, in which i have substantially agreed with you, but on this one, i am in a state of opposition to it. Some of the issues you have raised will be given attention as i proceed.

A president is the Father of the Nation. He superintends over every community, locality, components and states and all the federating units. That President Buhari has visited quite a number of Nations as well as some places in Nigeria but has not visited SE and SS region of the Country is a domiciled and sentimental statement. Infact, in my opinion, it is a statement made to wreck religious and tribal havoc . Are you saying he had visited at least one state in all the geopolitical zones? My records show it that PMB has not visited any place in the NC. He had palpably visited the SW, NE, NW and the lingering question on my mind is does it mean he must at least visit all the geopolitical zones in the country before leaving office? Afterall, these are the same geopolitical zones he visited during electioneering campaigns, culminating in one of the electoral promise to adopt the UNEP report on the OGONILAND cleanup, causing "presential" controversy today. Categorically speaking, the same SS and SE you accused PMB of neglecting has so far received the Federal Government's presence than any other zone, since the inception of his administration. The delegation to Enugu state led by the VP, the delegation to Delta state led by the VP, and the recent delegation to OGONILAND in Rivers State yesterday also led by the VP, are classical examples.

To forge further, of what use is PMB's physical presence in OGONILAND when he has a VP? If he decides to send his VP to represent him on a National mission, what constitutional provisions has he breached or what constitutional error has he  committed? Has he ripped Nigeria and  Nigerians off some certain benefits? Is it that if the President was physically present, the number of years earmarked for the cleanup would reduce? Either he was present or not, those that hate him from that region will continue to hate him until they find succour in his Government. Those that love him will continue to do so so far they are pleased with his Government. There is nothing so significant about his presence as you have acclaimed.

Apart from your stance on this issue, we were all living witnesses in the year 2014 & 2015 under the administration of GEJ. He also sent the Minister of Finance to present the Budget of these two years in the National Assembly. This was unprecedented in the history of Nigeria. Of course, the argument would be that there was nothing constitutionally mandatory for him to present it personally. So how do we strike a balance of what GEJ did and what PMB has done? That of GEJ was worst because he did not accord the Legislature the moral respect they deserve. Then, i expected write-ups from different angles but i saw none.

Presidential actions and decisions are due to one factor or the other, taking cognizance of what the law says as well as upholding Rule of Law. We were made to believe from reports emanating from internet and the Press that it was due to the assassination threats issued to Mr. president. In your justification sir, i can infer that you asserted that the President is bowing to intimidation, scared and sees Niger Delta as a sacred place to visit. I will not tow that line of reasoning and will not give a definite reason but one thing I am sure of is whatever his reasons might have been, it wouldn't have been that of the fear to lose his life. Who knows if it is to safeguard the lives of others? Who knows if he was occupied by other engagements? Who knows if it is to foil the Niger Delta Militants' plans? The issue of Fear should be brushed aside.

PMB has not failed to demonstrate true leadership; as his cancellation to visit OGONILAND does not make him a deviator from True Leadership. His mission there was the message and we should not ignore the message and attack the messenger. The promise to launch OGONILAND cleanup was carried out yesterday and it has taken place. Bill Gates once said, "As we look ahead into the next century, Leaders will be those who empower others". The cleanup will serve as a form of epowerment for the people of OGONILAND. This is what in my opinion, is called true Leadership. We should not judge a person without full understanding of his reasons for his actions.

Competition begins as NNPC Sells at 135

NNPC Alakuku in Lagos has started sale of PMS below 140 putting it's pump price  at exactly 135 per litre.

It was further gathered that NNPC after Kaso bus stop  sells for 140 while Oando at Iju ishaga sells for 143.

The government has predicted that the deregulation of the oil stream sector will reduce hardship faced by Nigerian while trying to purchase PMS and also bring competition which will make price drop drastically before the year.

Petrol stations who cannot be competitive might have to shut down because Nigerian might prefer to buy less than spend more with the current economic situation.

#5000 Buhari Stipend: How we will be paid

The president has reiterated that he will fulfil his campaign promise with the payment of unemployed youths being one of them.

Special Adviser on social Investment, Maryam Uwais made the revelation in Abuja on Monday, May 23 at a workshop on Child Poverty and Social Protection in West and Central Africa at the ECOWAS secretariat according to Daily Trust.

The monthly pay for the poor and unemployed Nigerians had generated a lot of issues among Nigerians who thought the presidency had been dishonest with the promise to the Nigerian populace.

She noted that 30% of the poor in every state and local government would be catered for while the figure would be increased to about 50% in 2017.

She said N5000 will be the bench mark for each family.

“There is poverty everywhere but if we say everybody is below the poverty line, poverty is higher in some places than others, so to avoid ghost beneficiaries we have asked them to have BVN so banks can pay directly to them.”.

West Ham tables £155,000 for Sensational U20 international Chukwudi Agor.

The 17-year-old is from the ASJ Academy, the same team where the Arsenal linked midfielder Kelechi Nwakali first cut his footballing teeth.

“West Ham have offered Agor Chukwudi a straight contract without him having to
undergo trials, very soon he’ll turn 18, ”says CEO ASJ Academy Emeka Amajiriaku to
allnigeriasoccer.com.

“ We are studying the offer and it is very likely we will accept it. We are interested in the player’s development and not the money that is being offered.”

To make up for the small transfer fee that has been offered by West Ham, ASJ Academy have inserted a sell-on clause in the proposed deal, giving them ten percent of the fees if the player moves on from the Londoners in future.

Chukwudi was one of the unsung heroes of the Nigerian young team at the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup, featuring in their first four games during the tournament and netted against the United States in the group stage.

He also scored the game-winner on Saturday as the Nigeria U20s beat Burundi 1-0 in an Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifier.

NIGERIA'S ECONOMIC WOES: THE ONLY WAY OUT

By Fatoyinbo Gafar Omo-Ola, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

Sunday 22nd May, 2016.

It is a widely known fact that Nigerian economy currently seems dead. We as a people have never had it good with the economy except when the few available position was for the few educated elites. Except in the 1960, our economy has never really been planned.

The simple fact is that the country has no savings and it's only main source of income -the Petroleum sector - isn't making enough as a consequence of the international oil market.

That we do not have enough savings and lack source of funds outside oil, is the making of PDP, but blaming PDP is not a solution.

On the long run, we need to expand and develop our productive sector. We can't be farming with hoes and cutlasses in this age. Completely
mechanizing our farming and enhancing our farm processing and packaging capabilities are good initiatives we need to imploy at this life-saving period.

The solid mineral sector should be tapped for our local industries rather than for export.

To bridge the gap between the market and the farmers, our government must bring back marketing boards. Whether completely owned by government or with some privately interests groups. These marketing boards will explore international markets for our farm produce and protect the farmers from prize fluctuations. They will have better capacity to process and package farm produce than individual farmers. Government
investment in these marketing boards is like subsiding production which is good.
These are the basics, which IMF forced us to abandon in the 1970 that lead to the disappearance of the groundnut pyramids, palmoil, cocoa and rubber plantations.

Our technological quest should start from filling the needs of these farm marketing, processing and marketing boards. From conquering hunger, housing and clothing, our advancement will take off. The farms are the basics.

On the short run, the population do not have money in their pockets. Government must put money in our pockets in a creative ways. The only positive ways is to identify key project and mobilize the people to execute those projects.
Those projects should be tied to things that can enhance our production - infrastructure (power,
roads, rails etc). We must think local and avoid imports as we build these projects. So long as the projects adds money to the people's pocket and adds value on our productive capacity, struggling to match Euro-American standard is not important. Every technology starts in crude ways. Let develop, protect and use our crude implements. They will evolve with time and usage. The government must find creative ways to protect those crude implements. Import control becomes key here.

How now do we source money for the projects?

Here is the panacea. A mixture of borrowing, quantitative easing, intelligent taxation comes to play here. Borrowing is simple and easy. Intelligent taxation, simply means taxing our luxuries, making those of us who have enough money for luxuries to remit more money to government purse. Cars, alcoholic drinks, imported clothing materials of all sorts should be taxed heavily. Executive houses in the cities should be taxed also.
The rich paying a little more to finance the government is the norm all over the world.

Now, we can't all fold our hands waiting for oil money to mobilize our people for work. The trick is quantitative: easing, which basically means printing money. Government in theorem holds and infinite purse. The only bad side is inflation; the matching of quantitative easing and inflation is the work of CBN and the Finance Ministry.

They should wake up and earn their pay.
Our present inflation is not in anyway caused by money supply. It's caused by exchange rate which is outside the money supply dynamics. I know very well that exchange rate are very speculative and within the control of a few banks which do not care for us. Let take our minds off what we can't control. Let not play a game we can't control, or compete with the referee in football match. He will always rig the laws to his favour. That is our case with the international pricing of currencies. There are currencies that will always be high because their banks have a large control on the FX international market.

If Buhari has quickly printed a few coins and awarded some few contracts , since January, the economy wouldn't have been in this shape. Als pricing and monitoring if the jobs is key; but this is normal requirement.

Squeezing an already squeezed population, in the name of tax, as they have always resorted to will not solve the problem. Only creativity will do.
Following IMF prescription will cause more problem.

I'm optimistic that the above submissions if properly considered for ratification by our policy makers will help promote the long-awaited interesting stories that Nigerians have been expecting.
Nigeria shall rise for better glories!
God bless Nigerians!!

Nigeria And Her “Cain” Herdsmen

By Damilola Towobola (Toblan SPICE)

The rich soil of the acclaimed giant of Africa, Nigeria has been a huge blessing to the country with the citizens blissfully mediating with the land through seeds which germinate into a source of living for families, brothers and sisters.

Nigeria which is a lawful state provides that ownership of land belongs to the government of a state while possession and occupation belongs to individuals who have such title; under the law entering of another individuals land without authorization is trespass. Human rights today is been abused by Fulani brothers who possess of Guns and daggers, they are Nigerian so they are brothers. But these brothers have suddenly turned to “Cain” by making farmlands Abattoirs which now runs with blood of other fellow Nigerians.

Ajanlekoko lives in the community of Oke-Ogun in the Ibadan with his family of six having graduated from one of our universities in Nigeria with expertise in Agriculture. The Young future leader had settled to cultivate the only inheritance left for the family by their late father, planting various crops and legumes. A huge source of blessing for the family and Nigeria at large; food is one of the basic necessities for survival as fuel is to a car and butter is to bread.

On a fateful day Ajanlekoko went to the farm to clear weed and prepare for harvest but a devastating sight was all that greeted and while in the shock of the malignant act, he discovered the dung of cattle. These were fresh excreta so he decided to hurriedly see the herdsman who had led them into his farmland. Luck shown on him as the herdsman was taking a short rest close by. Ajanlekoko said “Northerner megida Sanu”…I don’t like how you led your cattle into my land destroying my only source of living. The herdsman response was provocative “Na Allah get land” he replied.
Ajanlekoko got angered with his tone signifying anger and dissatisfaction which led to Adamu, the Fulani herdsman threatening to kill Ajanlekoko whose land he had trespass upon. In the ensuring argument, a loud slap landed on Ajanlekoko’s face and he fought back bravely putting the herdsman’s back to the floor like it was a “Gidigbo contest”. Chai, Walahi…I go kill you today roared the anguished Fulani who ran to the shade where he had kept his property, returning with a dagger which he used to club Ajanlekoko to death.

The incessant killing of Nigerians by herdsmen is a big slap on the National Unity likewise UNITY and FAITH, PEACE and PROGRESS in our Coat of arm. Nigerians daily are abused, maimed and their farmland destroyed by herdsmen who move cattle around in search of gazing source. The echoes of war looms as Agbekoya warriors have been summoned in the South West; history recorded the bravery of the Agbekoya Warriors against the Military which lasted for 14years. The Biafran also will not fold arms until their generation is wiped off by Gun/Dagger wielding herdsmen. The Green White Green flag has been over soaked and might tear off!

Chinua Achebe said it and it re-echoes “There was a Country”…will the Giant of Africa, Nigeria crumble? Will you stare while it crumbles! Ajala, the President arise and defend its Pride and unity, while you were outside looking for cure to ailment of the Nation, Fulani herdsmen have been possessed by the Spirit of “Cain”; killing brothers and leaving tears on faces of families.
