Elegant Liberation Chambers OAU Gets Spelling-Bee Thumbs Up.

The Elegant Liberation Chambers OAU, last week brought to the soil of Africa’s Most Beautiful campus, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife glamour and funfair by organizing an epoch Spelling-bee competition as part of events to mark her 25th Anniversary. 

The President of the Chamber, Mr. Ajibade Quadri in his opening remarks motivated the freshmen stating that students must constantly remember that they have crossed the Rubicon so they cannot afford to fail where others saddled with equal opportunities and responsibilities in the past have succeeded.

“406years, 3months and 3days ago like William Shakespeare presented his Model of Excellence to the Elizabethan Theater about, 406years, 3months and 3 days after, I enjoy the singular honour to present the Liberation Chambers Spelling Bee to the IfeLaw Theatre this day. Please enjoy the program.” He added.

The epoch event was spectacular, bringing back memories around “Akeelah and the Bee” as participants showed brilliancy and dynamism in their quest to scale through the various drilling hurdles to emerge champions and cart home coveted rewards.

Master Komolafe David emerged as this year’s champion while Sanusi Oluwadamisi and Quadri Hussien came second and third respectively. Winners received plagues, pen and jotters likewise smiles were left on faces of participants who also received consolation prizes.

“This is one big event that I must really confess added to me as a person, I learnt few new words and also had the opportunity to see wonderful lecturers who were once in our shoes advice us on how to be the best. Liberation Chamber and IfeLaw, I love you and give you a thumb.” a year one Student stated.

Liberation Chambers OAU, a profound Chambers in the Faculty of Law OAU, was founded in 1991 during the Liberation Movement in South Africa as part of Solidarity against the Apartheid Regime.  It is a platform to learn and improve in our sociocultural as well as academic endeavours. The Chambers provides opportunities for potential lawyers and members to be trained in activities that are only learned outside the four walls of the classrooms. They are prominent in organising trainings in Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR), Legal Drafting, Debates, Spelling Bee contests, Leadership Trainings, Event Managements, Moot trainings, Mock trials and EduSocial Trips amongst others.

The highly graced event had reputable lecturers from the faculty of law, OAU in attendance. Notable among them was the chairman of the Occasion, Mr. Olusola Adegbite and also Mr. Misbau Alamu Lateef.
